My Friend,
You were baptised once, thus the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of you is still there, abiding in the temple that was consecrated for Him at the time of your Baptism and Chrismation...and it was He that lead you to the path of repentance to regain your faith back in Christ.
Thus, the answer is no...He called you back, and you accepted the calling...Go back to your apostolic church, repent and confess, and joyfully reunite yourself to Christ through Communion.
And regards to the second part of your question, Anyone can be a Christian (Catholic), even if you were at one point an athiest. The doors of repentance is open to all that desire to walk through it.
I am not a Catholic myself, I am Orthodox, but given that Catholicism and Orthodoxy have the same apostolic origin, they have exactly the same doctrinal teachings, faith and practices. God back to Christ with a heart full of joy and faith in His loving salvation.

God Bless you my friend...I hope this helps you.

You say "Born again Christian" like it's something to be avoided, as the plague...

Being in a particular groups does not assure your salvation - any more than being an Atheist at some point assures your damnation...

Chances are you never fully disbelieved God's existence. Maybe you just weren't seeing eye-to-eye...

Many Catholics ARE born-again Christians, though many still practice the sacraments under the belief that those will assure their spot in Heaven.

Pray, & ask God to place you where He needs you...

I think God would welcome you back into His fold, no matter what. I see no reason why you could not go back to being Catholic. Did you ever read in the Bible the story of the Prodigal Son? A man had two sons, one stayed with him and did everything his father wanted him to do. The other ran away, and did nothing, but what he wanted to do. The runaway son came back home, and his father gave a big party for him. The other son asked his father why, when he had stayed and obeyed him and did everything he wanted him to do. The father said, but don't you understand, he was lost, and now he has been found. The moral of the story is that God will welcome you back with no strings attached if you come back to him, you were lost, but now you have been found.

The Answer is very simple my dear friend : You are what you believe you are.
What does you inner faith say to you ? If it says very strongly that you are a catholic then my friend you are there is not much that anyone can do about that.

Have a conversation with God, confess for what you might believe you have done wrong and trust me you will be at peace, you will feel the difference.

This advice is for anyone who is faced with this conflict , a private conversation with GOD.

I think that if you leave the Catholic faith for that particular reason you may well be excommunicated. I'm not sure but I think that would be a weird thing to have happen anyway. How could you go from having a strong faith to no faith and then change your mind again? I wonder if God wouldn't excommunicate you? LOL.

nicely technically your nevertheless a Catholic decrease than your mom and dad' faith being which you have been baptized decrease than their faith. you quite do no longer exchange into an entire member of the Catholic Church till your affirmation in view it quite is the final touch of baptism in which you're decrease than your very own faith. think of of your faith being your mom and dad faith being that they could be elevating you of their faith as you enhance up and acquire the different initiation Sacraments it turns into your very own faith as your regarded as an grownup in the Church. So notwithstanding in case you have been to alter into an Atheist it does no longer remember by way of fact your nevertheless decrease than your mom and dad' faith as a Catholic. in case you want to start receiving communion returned the only element you may do is flow to confession.

Lets not get ourselves confussed. If you are a catholic, you are a catholic anywhere. But those who belief in bornagainism, only want to be more catholistic. Just what they feel, you may be surprise you are doing better than them.
