And please be serious, answer only if you are a Jew, have friends or family who are Jews or if you have experienced the encounter with Jews. Since this is sensitive topic (my friends are Jews and feel so), please be polite and do not insult. At the moment I live in Israel (I am not a Jew) and I think there is a common look among Israelis. Of course after more than 50 years living in one state, there should be some resemblance. But I also think that it originates from the history, when Jews did not marry non-Jews. I'd like to hear from Israelis, Jews as well. Here I cannot talk to my friends, they say this thinking is antisemitism. I am just curious and if it is offensive toward Jews, I will stop asking this around.

I`m sure they do.
All communities develop a similar look after a while.
Often for practical or "religious" reasons(dictated by dogmatic /historical teachings)
Genetics also play a big part if you limit the pool to a smaller group.
"gwizz" why is this question insulting?? have you actually read the question?

Very good question. No offence taken. All normal humans ask this about every race. Perhaps this is due to an inherited/genetic trait going back to the days when we needed to recognise friend from foe.
It is like all people from the Indian subcontinent look NEARLY alike.
Yes it is also not difficult to tell if an individual comes from the north or the south part. This is just an example and hope people of this region, or anyone else is not offended.

Well I think there must be some sort of standard look that goes with that particular area. I always think of olive skin, dark hair and eyes....the Anne Frank look I suppose. I had an orthodontist a long time ago who told me I look greek. He said it had to do with my features but I am not greek. More like a good mix of Native American and Polish. Anyway, I have also been told many times that I look jewish. I have never taken offense because I see nothing wrong with that religion or nation as it were. I think they are fascinating and would love to learn more about them.

well, some people can be spotted at a distance as Jews.
but this lady i work with really looks nothing like the typical Jewish person(or what we would expect). she wears very fashionable clothes, so does her daughter and other children. never speaks of her religion, but is apparently very into it. she invited the whole office to her son's bavsmitza(i can't spell it sorry!) last year.
so to cut it short, i don't know, i guess it varies from person to person and were they are based.
(we are in the uk)
i hope no offence was made.

Some people have a perception of Jewish people having large noses, dark hair and swarthy skin. Perceptions are in the main mostly untrue but seem to rise to the surface when persecution or discrimination is about.
List 50 famous Jewish people and they look as different from each other as any other religious grouping.
I exclude Religious leaders as they dress in traditional "costume" eg a Roman Catholic Priest is easily identified as what he is as would a Rabbi etc.

This is a racial question and you are implying Hitler had a point and you are aware it is sensitive so why ask it?
There are European Jews, Ethiopian Jew, Indian Jews Chinese Jews it is a religion not a nationality just like not all Roman Catholics are not Italian, Muslims also come in all colours.
Then again they do say people grow to look like their dogs so wag your tail, how can you ask such a stupid question?

They were supposed to adopt a certain look , being God's people, to be seen as different ,as his special people....for example letting hair on the side of the head grow curly..i am actually always happy to see them ...its like a proof that the bible is true because they kept this commandment also that God is real...amazing !
