I found that a combination of medication and some of the techniques that you have tried. The medication helps initially and as you progress within yourself and how you are feeling, you'll find you don't need it any more.

So many people are scared of going on meds, I certainly was, but its the best thing I ever did. Initially, it got me over the really tough time at the start and from then I gradually came through my depression and today I rely solely on meditation and exercise.

I hope you find your path, feel free to eamil me if you want to chat. I will offer any help I can.

Good luck !

I suffered from panic attacks for over 20 years. They were not mild. They were severe. I have been in the emergency room more times than I can count.
Thank God the attacks are gone. I have been free of them for about 4 years.

Panic or Anxiety Disorder is the number one mental disorder in the USA, supassing even depression. It is the curse of the Starbucks generation since caffeine is a trigger.

I wish I could give sound advice. I really don't know what I did to stop them.
I had tried all the medications, including Zoloft, Xanax, Tanzene, and Paxil. Paxil seemed to work the best for me. The others were worthless in my case.
I no longer need them.

True meditation really works well for me. I say "true" because there are many forms of meditation that are meaningless. I finally learned how to meditate properly from this woman... http://TaoBarbie.com .
She is a gentle and extremely wise soul who has helped me a lot. She understands a lot about life and living. She helps a lot of people worldwide.

Exercise helps because I feel better about my health. I was always worried about having a heart attack. It caused a lot of anxiety and I was always on guard for the symptoms, even though I had never had one. My father died from his first (and last) heart attack. That's why I worried so much. The thought scared the sh*t out of me.
The exercise makes me feel better about my overall heath and therefore helps me relax.
I know what you go through and sincerely wish I could give you the answer you seek. Only someone who has experienced it can relate.
My teacher and friend Maylei taught me to go inside myself (the woman at the above website link). She showed me how to find and use power that was laying dormant inside myself. I truly believe that anyone can do it.

Good luck and God bless.
I'll be prayin' for ya.

STOP THE CAFFEINE!
Really!

I didn't take any meds... it took awhile.. but I just started thinking in a different way so things that used to bother me (like being in front of a whole bunch of people, even being miserable all the time) don't bother me anymore... I don't think this would work for everyone.

... just take a few days and think, decide, then act accordingly...

I had a fear of water. I ended up taking a diving course.
it scared me beyond words, as they make you do all sorts of things under water. I refused to quit, even though I swallowed water through my nose for a minute while having no mask (because of panic) I didnt want to have to repeat it. when eve rwe had to remove our masks I panicked, and would hyperventilate enough to suck water through my nose. very bad, very painful.

in the end, I got my open water cert, and can jump or dive into water without fear, I over came it through destroying my fear by going beyond its threshold.

words cannot explain my fear. I did it with friends who didnt know how terrified I really was, and my girlfriend was there too so I didnt want to let them done. horrible experience, but cured me.

what is your illness, what are your fears? is it safe to push there limits (with a guide)?
