As far as I know, they can only "borrow" media file programs on your computer. There are also filters on limewire that you can set so you can freely download music and media files from other's computers but they can not take anything from you. One of the downsides to these types of file sharing programs is that they are usually the source of most of the spyware and trojan viruses that are found on your computer.

The other guy is right. You get to choose exactly what is shared and nothing else.

As for erasing a program, just uninstall it from Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them.

I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.

I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

Good luck!

Here's where you can find MUCH information on p2p (peer to peer filesharing programs) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer

And no, the only things on your computer that can be seen by other people on a filesharing network, are those folders you choose to make available to the filesharing program.

Peer to peer programs usually have you designate folders you are willing to share to the filesharing network, in their setup wizards.

The only folders usually shared by default in such programs, are your incomplete and completed download folders for that program itself.

It is a website you download so you can copy music and videos. Limewire is probably the best I have used.

No, it doesn't keep anything from your computer. Morever, you can change the options as you like from the "Options".
