The poster above me is completely wrong.

The Catholic Church recognizes any marriage between any male and female so far as it is in accord with the law both natural and civil. Additional the Catholic Church considers any marriage between two baptized Christians to be sacramental and requires that non-Catholic Christians get an annulment before they would marry a Catholic or enter into full communion with the Church while married to a "second spouse".

The Catholic Church does not recognize a marriage between a Catholic and a non-Catholic UNLESS the parities have been properly educated and dispensed from the obligation to marry a Catholic and to marry in the Church by the local bishop.

Unless it was a Roman Catholic marriage, the church does not recognize it, and technically, the couple are living in sin, 'concubinage'.

Most protestant groups recognize a marriage as a marriage, however it was performed and whoever performed it.

As far as I know, no, they don't... but it may depend on the catholic church... are you talking Roman catholic, Greek Orthodox, Church of England, some other?
