Do you think that if a man has been violent to you on one occasion then it will happen again in future, even if he recognises that it was wrong. I want to work at this , but not to become another statistic of domestic violence. Advice please

Once a relationship is ruined by violence, any magic that existed when it was new is gone. It will never come back. By staying, you will be devoting yourself to a memory of something that is dead and gone. It will take time, but seek a new relationship with new memories that can be fresh and not labored. If you have to TRY to be with someone, it is no longer a joy. It's as simple as that.

you already are a statistic now of domestic violence. Mine went on over years till i called the police, i once again didnt charge him, then 2 years later he does it again and i couldnt let it go this time. Yah it seperated us but i dont feel scared for my life no more. Everyone is different i know some change but just think about talking about it with someone please!! Good Luck!!

well i believe people can change but you can give him one more chance, but let him know how it made you feel hurtful and very angry, if i were you i would punish him, i dont mean by hitting him back but by not talking to him for two days, or not giving him any for like a week, or don't make him anything, but if he does it again just walk away (actually run) and dont look back because he might say he will change but two times is more than enough to know he won't

if he was able to do it once, what's to stop him from doing it again? it's great that you mentioned you don't wanna be just another statistic of violence, well so don't be.

no woman should ever be hurt by a man.

we were not made to be their punching bags.

respect yourself by freeing yourself from this person

i wish you luck

In my experience the bloke will never change.

You will always bring it up in an arguement and he will never be allowed to forget his behaviour.

GET OUT NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.!!!!!!!!

it really depends on how he struck you....if it was in rage or if alcohol was a factor so forth.....
generally if they are aware of their problem and they do something about it....it can be controlled.....if he is willing
however if it happens again i would give him his marching orders
