You'll get a horsepower increase from the intake kit and you'll save some gas mileage too. How much? Not sure usually 2 to 5 mpg increase. And like motioned in early responses adjust your driving habits. Use your gas to control your speed not a mixture of gas and brakes.
If you see your coming to a red light why keep speeding up to it just to hit your brakes? Let off the gas and coast up to it till you have to hit the brakes. If you stay off the gas the light might turn green before you get to it and not even have to hit the brakes. And when ever possible including the highway use the 2 to 3 second rule they taught you in driving school. That also helps keep unnecessary braking to a minimum,And save you a little gas mileage.
The Tahoe does not get good gas mileage anyway. But they just came out with a new one that gets better mileage because when your at cruising speed it shuts off 4 of the cylinders giving you about 23mpg highway. It's the new 2007 model that has this feature.
My girlfriend has a Tahoe and she gets 13mpg when she drives it in the city. When I drive it it gets about 16 to 19mpg. And I still get around in it faster than she does because I miss most of the red lights driving this way.

Don't give gas until last moment if you see that you need stop.
Keep distance with the car that go ahead you can regulate the speed for use your brakes less than possible. Think it, each time that you use your brakes, you were spending gas unnecessarily. In the freeway try to keep constant speed,

I put a K&N cold air intake on my 2003 Ford F-150 and I've noticed a 2 mpg increase. The added power is great too.

for starters just an intake system isn't going to give you big gains. If you really want the power, get a good cam put in it. you can try crane or lunati, summit even has some good ones.

Not as much as most people think. It will most likely give you just a couple mile to the gallon.
