We had a pug with our large dogs, and he couldn't have been more perfect! Our pug, Bandit, never fussed with the others..and they all loved him..as if he was their little buddy.
My mother in law had a pug with her Chihuahuas, and all got along just fine..In fact, too fine! there was an accidental litter of Chugs...lol...that was way before they were a valued designer breed..

Dalmatians are confident energetic dogs and to ensure that your second dog can keep up with things I would suggest getting at least a medium size dog. Pugs are attention seeking dogs having been bred as companions and tend to thrive as one owner pets. You may have competition problems between your dogs if they are both quite confident personalities which is typical of both these breeds.
However, if you are sure you want a pug, most dog breeds can get along if they are brought up correctly together its just that you may find it easier to go for a sporty springer spaniel or if you really want something smaller a Westie. These breeds fit in more easily to pack life.

Pugs are in fact good with other pets. You need to research before you actually decide. A good site to look at would be www.puppyfind.com
It probably wouldn't be best to have a large breed dog around a pug, because a pug is very fragile. And you have to take extreme care of them. They are suseptible to infections and health problems. They need to be in a home with an air conditioner in case it gets hot, because their breathing with get really bad, and they canNOT have a collar. You can put one on the dog, but never attach a leash to the collar. If you want to take the dog out for a walk, you have to buy a harness for it. And as for the first answer, they are very friendly dogs. They do seem to bark quite a bit, but they will not randomly snap at another dog or person. But yeah, check out the site that I put up for you, it'll help. Hope this helps you!

why are you asking whether a dog you haven't even got yet, is good with your present dog?????
How is your present dog with other dogs?
Personally I would not get a small breed puppy to go with a larger breed dog. If your present dog decides he dislikes the little one and attacks it, the small one has no defence at all and may be killed. When adding a second dog, try to get one of a similar size. That way, they become playmates and can enjoy each other's cpmany. A pug will not be a playmate to your dalmatian since it won't be able to play rought and tumble big dogs games, like the 'running fast shoulder barging' game that bigs dogs like to play wioth each other.

It all depends on you as the Alpha male, if you let missbehavior happen it doesn't matter what dog you get. I really think any breed of dogs can be companions despite what people say...smaller dogs are more territorial of their owners and the pug will probably start fights with the dalmation. but if you have your dogs well trained and can train them not to fight and get along any dog you chose will be fine. do you ever watch the dog whisperer? if not you should

Dals love to romp and play (you know this if you have one). They love companionship of any type. They should get along famously together!!!!!! I have 4 Dal's, and they party all the time in the back yard!!!!!! A pug dog should fit in nicely.

Pugs are good with all other pets, and NOT at all yappy. I have several and it's completely quiet around my house. If your dalmation is good with small dogs, then they should get along fine.

I have a pug and I love him to death but I think I would have a really hard time bringing another dog into the house mainly because He gets really jealous...AND NOT SNAPPY... just jealous and territorial...to the point where i think hed rebel and become really sad if were to do so...But i think if you bring them in as a puppy they learn to adjust better...
If you would like to check out my pug his myspace link is:

i think i'd stick to other breeds such as cavalier king charles spaniels, which although they <3 attention themselves are also very flexible. although maybe not with a dalmation as they dont really like any activity and hate the rain!
^_*
pugs are cool tho!
