Sandy ,below: I sought god and did not get an answer. And your self-righteousness is disgusting.

Sure. It means that you are willing to do something only to bring some intended pleasurable effect into your own life. Clearly it has nothing to do with God.

When it fails, though, don't blame God. Blame the one who did not seek God's will through prayer but instead sought to feel good by praying.

Prayer is no good.
We can't face problems in the world such as:
(global warming, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, sting-rays being defensive, etc etc)
by using prayer, science proves this.

Instead of wasting your time preparing for
an afterlife, spend this entire life preparing your future generations for their lives and so on.

The one's who didn't evactuate New Orleans
just sat back and prayed that the hurricane
wouldnt flood New Orleans. Wow!!! Their prayers
were answered huh? They didnt leave b/c they were
lazy and thought prayer could help divert the
hurricane. WRONG! We as a human race have to take onproblems in the world Face-to-Face, not Face-to-Thought.

Who are you praying to? Are your prayers being answered? Maybe someone is listening. Maybe it's God...the one you'll spend your afterlife with. "Knock and the door shall be opened to you." "Seek me, and you will find." You are knocking...better stop if you don't care.

yes, when I was younger and scared at night I used to sleep with a Bible under my pillow because I thought it would protect me. I was never harmed in my sleep, even though now I know God was protecting me - at that stage in my life I thought it was the Bible.

Praying is good for you

yes. you are talking to god, you just don't know which god it is. there are so many religions that it is easy to feel the same. for me, i am a christian so praying is like talking to god, i tell him my cares and worries.
this song seems apropraite for you:
have you ever talk to god above
tall him that you need a friend to love
pray in jesus name believing that god answers prays
..... can't remember

maybe the act of praying itself helps calm your mind. sometimes when we vocalize things, they become less frightening or intimidating, and sometimes we can talk out solutions to difficult problems. and saying a prayer of thanks allows you to recall something good that has happened to you, which also makes you feel good. so in this case, it makes perfect sense.

Yep. It actually does, I have a lot more respect for you than I do other people who state they *know* 100% that God is fact. You are an honest person, thank you.

This is no one's business but your own. If this is something you truely believe, to heck with everyone else. I like to throw in a banana split with the prayers.. this really makes me feel better..Go for it.!!
