Like everyone else has said "download the driver/software and install it".

If it is a built-in one, you should be able to find the software/drivers on IBM's website. However if it an external webcam, you'll have to go to the manufacturer's website or you may be able to find the drivers on www.driverguide.com (if you can't find them anywhere else). Even if you have the installation CD, you may find it more benefical to download and install the latest software.

The hardware obviously needs some software to make it work! example, if u just had a comp, it wont work without an operating system such as windows on it!!!

You need find the driver for the webcam and configure it with the laptop so that it is recognised by the laptop and only then wil it function. You could start with the Add hardware option in your control panel.

If there is an installation CD that came with the cam, use it to install the software and drivers. You may also have some luck with Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Hardware.
