I wouldn't go any lower than 700 or 800 MHz. And even that low isn't going to be that great. I would go with 2000 on anything slower than an 800 MHz. Make sure you have 256MB of Ram. That's actually what XP Recommends for a minimum.

You can install XP on pentium 3, as long as you have enough RAM (128 MB minimum)
Pentium 1 and 2 is not enough though.

short answer: you are able to no longer run the working gadget on C: from interior domicile windows Vista -- no longer in spite of VMware, digital laptop, Qemu, and so on... the only thank you to run domicile windows XP interior your domicile windows Vista is to create a clean digital device from interior VMware, digital laptop, or despite the fact which you go with. The digital device will require a clean deploy and can't use what's on C: in case you go with VMware, you will get their VMware Convertor device, and jointly as working domicile windows XP, create a clean VM image. then you definitely would be waiting to load it into VMware. yet domicile windows XP can basically be lively on one device at a time, despite the fact that if digital or actual, so which you will might desire to re-turn on domicile windows XP interior the digital device and blow away what's on C: afterwards. in case you're new to virtualization, this is probably not a job for you.

I'd make sure you have at least 256MB RAM, preferrably 512 MB. 1GZ or faster processor. And of course, you have to have enough free space on your harddrive.
