Yes you are right when you say that a tiger is larger and slightly more powerful. Unfortunalty a lion would easily beat a tiger in a one on one fight.
Tigers are solitary animals that only come together to mate. Male tigers actually respect the scent markings of other male tigers and will not fight each other for territory. To do so would more than likely cause injury and reduce their chances of survival.
Lions are social animals that fight for food and to be leader of the pride. A male lion begins his life as a leader by fighting his way into a pride. And then his life is ended by losing to another male lion that is trying to take over the same pride.They have little or no fear when it comes to animals even twice their size. In essence the lion is a born fighter and would dominate a tiger.

Ever seen a liger or tigon, they are the cross between these two. Their growth genes dont turn off properly and they grow massive and would easily overpower both lions and tigers.
out of the 2, a tiger does win, check out youtube and search lion tiger, there are about 5 fights and the tigers always win

Yes a tiger would probably win, but in reality they are unlikely to ever meet in the wild as they come from different continents, lion from Africa, tiger from Asia.
