Aspartame is a substitute for sugar, so it is used by dieters.

As for it turning into formaldehyde (ironic isn't it. Notice the resemblance to Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde!), they are obviously uninformed. If they knew this fact, and what it does to their bodies, they would stay far away from it!

The real irony about using sugar substitutes is that they are replacing a teaspoon of sugar with a pack of the substitute.
A teaspoon of sugar has only 15 calories! Not very much really.

Because they are too worried about a few calories than about the formaldehyde. It gives me an instant head ache which is why I don't bother with it.

Because someone sells it.
Because it doesn't have near as much caloric content as sugar.
Because they don't know better.

Same with anything. There is an easily visible plus, and a nearly invisible negative.

Smoking---one, two even a pack or a carton of ciggerettes doesn't hurt you in any noticeably way.
Same as with one, two or even a 12 pack of diet coke doesn't hurt you in any visible way.

We are creatures of instant gratifacation, not long term well being. Look at hiroshima.
