What OS are you running for starters? Also check to see if any of your driver need updating.

Perform a disc clean-up - clear out the clutter

As for malware, give Ewido a try (owned by Grisoft..ie AVG)

Oh - and several studies have well and truly blown away the who myth surrounding disc defragmentation - it doesn't actually make anywhere near the difference all the hype would lead you to believe!

When was the last time you ran defrag? Save many files:? Pics or Music? Programs you rarely or never use?

A computer is a lot like a house, if you don't keep it picked up, it clogs up and everything slows down.

Do some housekeeping.

What do you mean by slow mine takes 30 secs

Norton and Macaffee often slow down the boot process as they perform a whole host of checks

The PC looking for network connections can also slow things down

It seems to be a pretty good comfiguration. But have you searched for rootkits? You can get Sophos, a free antirootkit from www.download.com. Just type Sophos Anti-Rootkit in the search box and filter the search for free software.

i wud suggest one important thing
jus separate the partition on the one on which xp is installed from the one on which the music n other files r stored ..i mean to say tat most probably ur xp is installed on ur c: drive ..jus don install any thin other on it.... except the xp sysytem files... dump all ur music, videos., songs , games n all other softwares to drives other than on which xp is installed..... if needed ..reduce the partition size on the c ; drive to jus 3 gb more than wat is requd. for xp system files....n then don install any otherprograms on it..... try it ...it really works.. cause if u have more file son ur root drives...it takes greater time to move thru files n access ur sysytem files.....
