There is really no acceptable definition for me. For instance the taking of life is considered a sin, but to wage war and kill is considerd okay and not a sin.
I suppose if you really know that something is unjust but do it anyways it should be considered a sin committed by you.

Sin is a term used mainly in a religious context to describe an act that violates a moral code of conduct or the state of having committed such a violation. In monotheistic religions, the code of conduct is determined by God. Colloquially, any thought, word, or act considered immoral, shameful, harmful, or alienative might be termed "sinful".

Common ideas surrounding sin in various religions include:

Punishment for sins, either from other people, from God either in life or an afterlife, or from the Universe in general
The question of whether or not an act must be intentional to be sinful
The idea that one's conscience should produce guilt for a knowing sin
A scheme for determining the seriousness of the sin
Repentance from (expressing regret for and determining not to commit) sin, and atonement (repayment) for past deeds
The possibility of forgiveness of sins, often through communication with a deity or intermediary; in Christianity often referred to as salvation
Crime and justice are related secular concepts.

The above are general definition of Sin. different religions, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddisam, Jews etc., etc. have different definitions and saying as per their beliefs.

I have heard it said that sin is anything said or done that is not for the ultimate good of all concerned. I believe the bible refers to sin as that which seperates one from God.

The laws of man are much the same as the laws of God.Break either one and there is a price that has to be paid.Jesus has paid that price for those who will receive Him.

A concept made up in the Bible.

"The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage(salvation)?" - Dan Barker (former preacher)

Nothing you should even bother to consider, if you are not a member of the Church. It's just one more instrument of social manipulation that some religions impose on their followers.

It is a make believe word meant to explain that any actions that would offend a "God" up in the heavens. If such a "God" has been offended he will send you to an eternity in "hell" which is located in the Earth. Jesus which is God but at the same time the son of God was sent to the surface of "Hell" (Earth) to clean people of their offenses against a God so they would not be lowered into the Earth(Hell). God sacrificed himself to himself to remove any offenses made to him by his creation. They just need to ask God's son Jesus which is also God for forgiveness.
