They are removed by taking off the elastic ligatures, unbending the wire at the 6th molar brackets, and removing the brackets with a twisting motion.

This is something that should not be attempted though. There are a lot of complications that can arise from having braces removed, such as:

- tearing off of enamel
- hidden cavities under the brackets
- injuring a tooth while removing the brackets

Also, it is practically impossible to remove the molar bands without an orthodontist's assistance. You would likely chip some teeth when using various kitchen/workshop implements in an attempt to remove them.

I highly recommend explaining your situation more assertively. If you are legally an adult, and you ask him to remove them, he can recommend otherwise, but you have the final say. This way you will have them taken off safely. You will also need a retainer made, otherwise the teeth will slowly start to move back to their initial position, completely defeating your 2 years of braces.

Taking braces off yourself is not a smart thing to do. Go explain to your orthodontist that you MUST have them removed. He is required to take them off if you so choose.

Don't try to do this yourself, you could damage your teeth or gums. If you have had two years of treatment, you are probably over the worst...try to hang in there. If you really refuse to follow through, speak with your orthodontist again, and tell him/her that you refuse to continue treatment and want the braces removed. You will probably have to sign a document that you are having them removed against medical advice.

You could probably have another orthodontist do it, and it wouldn't cost as much money...Cause it's less work to have it removed. Be prepared for a lecture though, about all the wasted time and effort you've put into it, and your teeth will probably start to shift again.

You couldnt remove them anyway.

After ur dental treatment, u have to wear a retainer full time for two months. After that, u only have to wear it at night.

Orthodontists never tell u too stop wearing your retainer. I had mine removed about 5 years ago and still wear my retainer about 2-3 nights a week when i go to sleep.

So removing your own bracers will just allow your teeth to go back to its old ways.

The retainer prevents movement of the teeth once the bracers have been removed.

Do not try and take them off . Because you will pull out our teeth or damage you teeth . And the have to get a gum thing to heat the brace and then the remove it .

"you" do not remove your braces. An orthodontist does.

If you do it yourself, you risk injury at worst, and at best, you are left with that cruddy cement on your teeth, which everyone can see as easily as the braces.
Don't be a go-tard. Leave them on.

oh god i had the same problem after two and a half years..but just dont do it you can really mess up your teeth..and all that work and money you have already spent will go to waste..but if you have to i think you need some kind of liquid remover...when they took mine off, they put the liquid on then just pulled it all off at once..it was weird.

He probably has a good reason for leaving them on. Taking them off too soon may cause your teeth to go back to their old ways.

Do not do it now, I know from personal experience! You will regret it for the rest of your life. That's along time compared to the two years or so (you may be able to get them off early) Just don't do it. PLEASE!!!
