I know my dogs had souls. Why would humans be the only life form to have a soul? That makes no sense.

So if all life has a soul, do all the souls of all living creatures get to go to heaven?

How would God decide this tree is worthy of heaven and that one condemned to hell?

This actually is a serious question, so please don't mock it.

I believe ALL living things have a life force or soul....our souls are limitless, without bounds...including animals, trees etc.
just because we all appear in different 'bodies' doesn't make all of our contributions to this life any less important. WE are ALL connected....to believe otherwise is to close yourself off from the divinity of life. It is pompous and arrogant to think that we humans are exclusively endowed with the essence of GOD to the exclusion of all else!

I do agree with you that plants and animals also have souls. According to Christian theology though, only humans have souls and therefore can go to heaven or hell. It's based on the belief that only humans are capable of believing in God or not.

From what I have been told, plants and animals don't go to heaven or have souls because heaven is already filled with them. So plants regenerate and animals cease to exist when both have died.

However other religions believe that the plant and animal souls reincarnate and don't go to heaven or hell.

Even animals have souls. According to the Hindu or Buddhist scriptures the souls of animals re-incarnate the same way the human soul does. Liberation from the cycle of birth and death is only possible at the human level.

So the soul of an animal eventually needs to transmigrate into human bodies and these need to evolve to spiritual perfection to be emacipated or liberated.

How do you know they don't?
Keep in mind that the Bible was written at a point in history where animals were regarded differently from how they are today. Back then pets going to heaven probably wasn't a concern.

But read back through genesis, how it speaks about God making all the animals and everything. Of course they have a soul, all things God made have his spirit within them. Animals aren't capable of sin so why would they not go to heaven? Just because it's not mentioned it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Humans animals all have souls, The soul is where you find emotions, feelings, things like that. The spirit is what leaves the body.
I know there are horses in Heaven, one came down and swooped Isiakiel from the earth.

All life doesn't have a soul. The Bible says that God breathed into MAN and he became a living soul. That doesn't mean that bad things happen to animals. God loves animals and I'm sure even though they don't have a soul He will have a place in heaven for them so we can love and enjoy them there just the way we do here. God is love....so whatever he does will be just and full of mercy. Also, the Bible talks about horses in heaven so those scriptures prove that animals are in heaven.

One of the things I like about Buddhism is that it encompasses "all sentient beings", which includes humans as well as animals.

The Jains, I think, take it further; many of them will only eat vegetables and fruits which can be taken without killing the plant (e.g. corn or apples are OK, carrots and potatoes aren't).

However, these aren't religions that believe in heaven. They do take other living things into account, though.

According to other religions like Buddhism, since all creatures should be equal, all will have the chance of going to the paradise depending on their deeds (karma). Plants don't fall into the category.

All trees go to heaven. I don't think that God is going to run out of room. I don't think that sharks and amoebas will be going to the same heaven as humans but they may have a place of their own.
