Please share with us where the Book of Mormon states that baptism for the dead is impossible, and I will attempt to answer your question.

Thank you for posting a reference. Now, it appears that you have a fairly loose interpretation of what the scriptures mean. You will notice that these verses are talking about repentance. Nothing is mentioned here about baptism for the dead, but that is beside the point. Who was Amulek talking to? He was talking to people who had already received a witness of the truth (see verse 33). People can only repent if they know that they are sinning. The final state of the wicked, as mentioned in verse 35, refers to those who knowingly rebel against God and die in their sins. The Spirit of the Lord can only be withdrawn from someone who has already received the Spirit. Baptisms for the dead are reserved for those individuals who did not have an opportunity to accept the gospel in this life, and later accept it in the Spirit World. It appears that the people Amulek was addressing here had already accepted the gospel.

It is saying that NOW is the time to "prepare to meet God", now is the time to repent and live as Christ-like as we can...
verse 35 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.

Basically, the reason we do baptisms for the dead is because it is a commandment. Also, WE do not know what the person's state of righteousness was when they died or where their heart was...only God does. So therefore, we must do baptisms and temple ordinances for everyone who ever lived, so that no one is left out or not given the chance to accept it.

The Mormans baptise for the dead. The Bible condems this. Eph 4:5 &6 says there is 1 faith,1 Lord, 1 baptism, 1 God. All these faiths that we have on this earth are man made, except one. The Lords prayer says, let you name (Ps 83:18) be (made Holy) (put on high)etc. Isa.43:10--Acts15:14. The Bible says seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. Matt 24:14 says this good news of the kingdom will be preached though-out the earth, then the end will come. Find out who's doing this preaching work(going from door to door) talking about Gods Kingdom. The ones that are doing this on a world wide basis, theres only 1.

34 Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful acrisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth bpossess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
35 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.

Yeah, this doesn't say that the Baptism for the dead is impossible.

This is but one of many contradictions found where the BOM says one thing and the D&C says another. When you add the PGP in the mix, more contradictions appear. It is a confusing mess.
You are better off to hold just to the Bible and forget what you hear from the LDS books.
The discussion of Baptism of the dead in Corinthians when it is viewed in context is an argument against it. Paul says that if Christ did not raise from the dead, we are to be pitied and our faith is useless. He goes on to say that Christ DID raise from the dead and our faith is worth something.

The Bible teaches against the Baptism of the dead. I would suggest going straight to the Source yourself and never take someone else's word without reading it yourself.

holy smokes these mormons get pissed when they are proven wrong by their own books. i agree with you. once you are dead you are dead. thats the end, if you follow a cult god, like the mormons, ur just screwed. you cant be baptized when you die and go to heaven for 2 reasons, one because the bible teaches otherwise, 2 because baptizm doesnt get you into heaven. how many times must i tell you mormons that being baptized does nothing to get you into heaven. i can be saved my whole life, never get baptized and still go to heaven!

The book of mormon is a book full of inconsistencies written by a sham artist. They have revised it to cover up the major foulups, but still cant get it right.
