What you refer to as "nappy" hair is a very tight curl. When someone labors in the field, they sweat and then lose a lot of fluids.well, that tight curl that you see,or nappy head, will retain and circulate the moisture around the skull, like a car radiator. interesting isn't it.Only rugs have "Naps''

Peaple of African decent originated in a very dry hot region of the planet this caused very curly or nappy hair as you call it.Just as europeans or causian peoples are said to have originated in colder regions of the planet causing the more thin and strait hair. This is mostly theory though. You can alwayes go to the library and research it on your own. Thankyou Daddy rizq for that amazing theory on the nap ha ha ha, that was a good one.
