most people dont come out right away and usualy wait quite a while untill they are ready, i dont think the law has a problem with that, u should really bring him to justice and because u both deserve it

Hi! I was abused sexually, physically and mentally by my Dad and it has messed me up royally. I have anxiety disorder and many other stress related problems. I don't think the guy that abused you can be convicted, but you can confront him and tell him how you feel. I finally did with my dad and then I had to let go and forgive him because the hate was destroying me. I now can live each day successfully and I work with others in the same situations. I look at it mystically. God allows us to go through stuff so we can help others. Also, from reading about holy people (saints) that have gone through the same kind of things, I've learned some beautiful truths. That people that are allowed to go through really bad things are loved especially by God because they have felt some of his Son,s pain while he walked the earth. God is so in love with the soul's "poor spirit" that he gives them the largest mansions on the top level in heaven if they hold on to hope in him. You are experiencing the great test. Now find out where you can reach out and help the little ones that are going through the same thing and need you. Be a advocate for children or abused people. You will find that you are so special and needed because normal people don't understand the feelings. You are a miracle---you made it through! You are a survivor! All of the disorders you have are your badges of being at war and surviving. You are stronger than most people can ever imagine. Sweet Sister, I will pray for you! God Bless you!

It probably depends on what the statute of limitations is in your state. There may, however, be something in the law that says if the person left the state the statute of limitations may have been "on hold" until he returned.

What you need to do is call your local prosecutor's office and ask about this. These days people are trying to get laws passed that will do away with the statute of limitations on this type of crime. Your state may have already done that.

It would be worth looking into: I read a US article in a Law Journal that stated: If the person had periods in their life where they could not remember some of the abuse or memory loss of certain years in their life...i.e. when you were 8 years old etc., due to such abuse and then later in life they were affected in ways that were directly associated with the abuse, then the person could charge the abuser.

I'm not sure if you can after 13 years, unless you could prove it. The best advice that I can give would be to go into therapy and possibly some support groups in your area. I'm sure you heard it before but talking with people who've gone through the same thing often helps alot of people through tramatic times in their lives.

yes i don't see why not if you can back up your self or have a wittiness. sorry this happened to you and sorry to hear about this. i have had similar things happen to me when i was 7and 8, and still to this day i cannot stand their name.i still have an insecurity to everyone now. i have just recently with the help of my female cousins( wittiness and victims) convected my uncle, and got a restraining order on him after 12years. it took me 9 just to get the nerve to turn him in. it took a long time (3years) just to prove it and actually get action.( when we found out my 19yr.old cousin who still lives at home got pregnant and DNA test proved that it was his child.) good luck and keep fighting it will eventually pay off and he will get what he deserves.

it depends. a lot of states have what is called a statute of limitation. which means, you can't prosecute after a certain number of years.

you could probably call a local police dept, attorney, or search online to find out laws in your state.

also, some states have laws that once you turn 18, the person can no longer be prosecuted.. i know that sounds crazy, but i know someone who ran into that problem in michigan...

good luck

Talk to an advocate for you...a parent or guardian or clergy to help resolve. You should...he may be still doing it.

contact an attorney, one that gives free consultations. It's different in different states. God bless you.
