Anything past 36 weeks is really still considered full term. And preemie sizes are up to 5 pounds. Most preemies are allowed to go home at 4 pounds. I would just say that your baby was a little early, but not a preemie.

I had mine 3 1/2 weeks early as well and they said not a preemie. I think that once you are beyond 36 weeks, they no longer consider the baby a preemie. Congrats on the new little one.

3.5 weeks before your due date is not considered early.
usually preemies are classified at being born 35 weeks and below.
my daughter was 7 weeks early and only weighed 4 pounds at birth. she is the most busiest 4 year old i've ever met now!! she passed her 5 year old sister in height last year and just keeps on going. my dad nicknamed her "taz"
your baby was just a little peanut when she was born and i would imagine that you're pretty petite yourself mom.
love and enjoy every minute with her b/c they sure do grow fast!!

as long as your baby is healthy, it doesnt really matter. at 36 weeks, they are considered close enough to full term that if you go into labor, they wont try to stop it. She may need preemie size clothes, but I wouldnt worry so much about the title. Shes a baby, either way.

36 weeks or under constitutes a premmie baby. My son was induced at 37 weeks and weighed 5lbs 12ozs.
Now at 6 he is huge. They catch up really quickly!

5lb 11oz doesn't sound premmie. I wouldn't be worried. At 3 1/2 weeks early she will have any problems anyway

She's just little, I think under 5 pounds is considered premiee and if she was under developed, that might have been considered a premiee
