There is nothing toxic to watercolors, acrylics, charcoal, conte or ink that can harm your body while you're pregnant (unless you're into drinking India Ink).

Oil paint does produce vapors. So, simply stay away from oil paint and you'll be fine.

Also, stay away from leaded color pencils. They can be toxic if you have a habit of wetting the tips and/or touching the work.

I think you're fairly safe with all those media. Oil painting is a definite no-no, but watercolor is quite safe. Charcoal is safe, too... but I'm not sure about ink. I'm pretty sure there are non-toxic options out there when it comes to ink.

Good luck!

If you are worried about poisons in watercolors or charcoal or ink while pregnant, you wouldn't be able to use them if you were not pregnant.

The common illnesses associated with pregnancy are with dirty foods (shellfish and some raw meats, listeriosis) and cat poop (toxemia).

It would only do you good to research excellent quality books on pregnancy during this time, and for that I would suggest the library.

When drawing with charcoal, do not use a fixative spray or solution that you have to spray on with a blowpipe (with the mouth). You might inhale the vapors. If you do want to preserve the charcoal drawing you could also try a very cheap hairspray (no odours added). But let someone else spray in on for you...
Always spray in when ventilated rooms, or outside...
Have fun...!!!

If you are careful with the media. Read the warning labels and don,t put yourself under stress then this can be a wonderfully creative time. In pregnancy most women experience a heightened sense of activity, both mental and physical [ yes I know there are exceptions]. If you have the time and the opportunity, exploring the creative side of you personality can do no harm to you or your baby.It will certainly be potentially more rewarding than the sofa and the "soaps".

About the only thing you don't need to be doing is messing with chemicals, cleaning litter boxes, doing drugs and lifting heavy items.

If they have harmful effects while you aren't pregnant, then don't use them regardless.
