Satan was defeated once and for all. God had a plan for redemption, and satan could not undo, Calvary, is how Jesus crushed satan's head and his kingdom.

Because in Jesus's worthy sacrifice of His life for the redemtion of our souls, by taking all our transgretions, iniquities upon himself and bearing the chastisement of our peace upon himself, He once and for all eternity removed the sting of death from all who believe in Him, on Him. Sin is death. To die in your sin's means eternal seperation from God! That is death, the second death. Thus- In the garden of Eden Satan bruised man's heel, when sin entered. But the "seed" of the woman in Jesus Christ crushed Satan's head by saving man from eternal death. We who believe will live eternally with Jesus Christ Lord of Lords King of Kings thanks to His promise of salvation! Praise God!

It comes from the proto-evangelion in the book of Genesis...
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
