It depends a lot on your immune system, your gender, and which STD we're talking about. Here's a short list:
CHLAMYDIA - often asymptomatic for both genders.
CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) - 85% of the general population has it, but nobody shows any symptoms until they're in real big trouble.
GONORRHOEA - symptoms usually appear in 2-5 days, though some people are asymptomatic for up to a year.
HEPATITIS B (HBV) - symptoms may appear or disappear in weeks to months, but are often really subtle (liver problems, etc).
HERPES - after infection, symptoms may appear at any time. But it's incurable so it hardly matters.
HIV - most people who are infected begin to show symptoms after three years, though some who have the virus never develop AIDS.
HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS (HPV) - warts may appear in a few months. Or not. There are many varieties of HPV... some go away and some are chronic.
SYPHILIS - 10-90 days for symptoms, with 21 being average.
I should mention also that although many of these take a long time (or never) to overtly show us, there are usually tests that can detect them pretty quickly. Even AIDS can be detected within three days of being infection by some of the top-notch (and expensive) PCR tests that are in existance. So although YOU may not be able to tell if you have many of these things, your doctor probably can!
But most of these guys are really bad news in any case. It's best not to NEED to worry about symptoms! Hope that helps!

I believe that the earliest one will show up 21 days after exposure. I am not 100% certain about this though. Some STD's have no symptoms, which is scary, so it is very important to be honest with your doctor and truthfully tell him/her how many partners you've had, what protection was used, things like that. They can do more extensive tests that will be more accurate if you are honest. Also, it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the different signs and symptoms of STD's, and when they are likely to show up. It is important to be educated. :)

some take a few days some a few weeks some some a few months and some you never have symptoms at all. those are the tricky ones. warts can show up months or years after comming in contact with and genital herpes ususally shows up within 2 weeks to a month. for you safest bet do research on the web. there are plenty of sites with descriptions and pictures as well as go to the doctors if you think anyhting is wrong at all. my gyno knows my voice when i call i am there so much jsut to make sure i am ok... im sort of a hypocondriac but it is better to kno then to wait and worry. plus many stds are treatable so hurry up and get on ur way!!!

It totally depends on if you are male or female. For males it could happen in days. For women it could take as long as a month for the symptoms to show up. If it is something as serious as HIV or AIDS it could take up to six months to be found in your system-male or female. If you think you have one I strongly recommend that you get tested immediately. The longer you have an STD the more damage ti does to your body.

they are all different. some show up within a few days, some longer, some never show outward symptoms at all. try looking at a doctor website that lists symptoms for gynecological diseases.
