I would say keep the walls a light color, maybe pick your favorite color and use a lighter shade. Purple, blue and red look real good with black & white and stainless steel. You can go to a paint store or home remodling store like Home Depot or Lowe's and choose whatever color you like most and then view the different shades in the color section you decide on.
We are remodeling our home and have been spending plenty of time viewing color charts and found it helps to pick a few and put in the room you want to paint so you get a better idea of what will work. Good luck!

Here's a good tip for decorating. You might want to keep the walls a neutral color...but pick a color that you would love seeing every day. Why don't you focus on a theme, and pull your kitchen together with accessories? If you like cobalt blue (like me), or any color...then pick a few accessories in that color, such as kitchen towels, canisters, a rug, or a bowl to put fruit in, etc. and pull it together that way. You can go to a store like Bed, Bath, and Beyond and find things with all of the colors in your kitchen and also, probably a nice theme such as Italian grapevines, Bistro, Country...whatever your heart desires. Have fun!

It depends on the counter tops and cabinetry also. If the cabinetry is light, I would go for a dark accent color like wine or dark red on all walls, or at least one. Brown is always good also. Tan is a good neutral for light and dark cabinetry.

If the cabinetry is dark, go with a autumn color like a pumpkin or squash. You could also try a taupe if cabinetry is dark. Lowe's has one called sauteed mushroom.
Without knowing all the rest of the info, I could not narrow down to one choice.

a toned down yellow is nice! i have "belgian waffle" in my kitchen but my cabinets are white so it goes well with that...

Actually i think a shade of green would be great ..like " avacado green" or even a "Sage" would look nice.

Wall color depends more on your cabinets than your appliances. What finish/color is your cabinetry? What color is countertop? Wall is backdrop for cabinetry. Cabinetry is backdrop for appliances. Countertop bridges the two.
