I put 2 8oz bottles of V8, and 2 8oz bottles of spicy V8 in a empty 1 gallon ice tea jug, added 2 and a half cups of sugar, and a packet of yeast. I then put a hole in the top and set in on a closet shelf. I plan on letting it set for 4 days.
Will this really become tomato wine, and what will the alchohol content be about, should it stay out or be in the fridge, was I right to put a hole in the top for the gasses to escape and lastly will 4 days be long enough.
Maybe Im wasting my time, but it was cheap and who knows maybe it'll work!

I've heard of people mixing up kool aid with yeast in a 2 liter bottle then putting a baloon on top and letting it sit for a week or two untill the baloon is fully expanded. They say that makes you drunk.

Yes I could just buy some from the store, but I would rather attempt to make my own. People have made there own for hundreds of years, not everything mass produced is better. Expand your minds some!

I just started another batch with organic blueberry juice, sugar, a chopped apple, and yeast. I am using the straw and glass theory for this one. We'll see how it does.

You are right and wrong here. The mixture of yeast and any type of sugar will create alcohol in an ANAEROBIC environment. By putting a hole in the top you have created an aerobic environment and allowed bacteria to enter. The oxygen creates an aerobic environment and bacteria will use the sugars to make god knows what. If you want to try again run a tube from a jug into a container of water. this will allow gases to escape but no oxygen or bacteria to enter. Scrap the batch you have cooking, it will only make you sick. store cooking batch at room temp in dark place.

You can make wine from about anything organic by adding sugar. However must keep air out while letting gasses escape. To do this- cork the top with a plastic tube in the center- running into a glass of water- sealing out air- while allowing gasses to bubble out through the water. When it stops bubbling it's done.

As previously stated, the first batch, not a good idea, you can get airlocks from large pharmacy stores that sell wine making stuff. It will most likely get you drunk to an extent, to improve this though, try distilling the results you get from this brew, is a tad dangerous, but if researched well, and carried out under controlled conditions, you can make it as strong as you want!

The yeast will ferment but you may be asking for food poisoning because there are no preservatives in what you described to combat the bacteria that comes from food poisoning. Tomato based products should be ditched if left out over 2 hours.

I never heard of it being done with tomato juice. I heard of orange juice. They call it hooch in jail. I do know that it can make you sick so be careful.

If you throw up then it either worked or you sick as dog. Stick to drinking store bought alcohol. You might experiment and kill yourself with nasty concoctions.

4 days isn't nearly enough. You need to wait until it stops bubbling.
