I am an EMT, and on my service we all wear "shoes for crews". The design that we wear are similar in appearance to combat boots, but they have a special sole. The sole is oil and slip resistant so that you a quite a bit less likely to fall. Put a good supportive insole for comfort, and you should be set. These shoes are comfortable, supportive, and safer for everyone involved. You can order them online at shoesforcrews.com.
Hope this helps!

I'VE BEEN AN EMT FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS AND I'VE FOUND THAT "MAGNUM" BOOTS WORK BEST FOR ME. THEY'RE LEATHER WHICH KEEPS OUT NASTY LIQUID STUFF AND THEY HAVE THICK RUBBER SOLES WHICH ACT AS INSULATORS AND ARE NON-SKID. THEY HELP PROTECT YOUR ANKLES FROM TWISTS AND SPRAINS; THEY DON'T HAVE NYLON ON THEM WHICH CAN MELT UNDER SOME CORROSIVES OR HEAT (IF YOU'RE ON A FIRE SCENE); AND THEY'RE REASONABLY LIGHTWEIGHT. SOME PEOPLE PREFER THE STEEL-TOED MODELS, AND THAT MAY BE A REQUIREMENT IN SOME SERVICES.
