Today is October 23, 2006.

On the preceding eve of this day October 23rd, 4004 B.C., the universe was created according to the archbishop James Ussher in what is now called the Ussher-Lightfoot Calendar.

Are Christians celebrating the creation of the universe today?

I have never heard of any Christians specifically celebrating this anniversary date. Many Christians have similar views to Bishop Ussher as far as a general creation date of about 6,000 years back but hardly anyone agrees with his exact year much less a month or day.

it is a particular idea, yet atheists are commonly so severe even of different atheists that they couldn't in any respect conform to this. some strays right here and there yet commonly the reaction is something like this. "Atheism doesn't want a holiday because... it would want to't have a holiday because... it is no longer what atheism is about blah blah blah." they could be able to't in basic terms relax once in a lengthy time period for Pete's sake! i imagine a touch social gathering of autonomous questioning might want to be clean, and also you are able to wager that those type of grumpy atheists might want to be out and about celebrating their time without work after publicly affirming right here that it would want to be both adversarial to their beliefs and unsuitable and "what for." *rolls eyes* lol

The word "archbishop" should tell you that's a load of bunk. No one knows the exact date. It is, however, my mom's birthday tomorrow. So I'll be celebrating that.
