Easy to quote a verse and prove a point to an uneducated
lazy, reader People masgazine. or some ohte mindless movie the public demands. I can make anyone believe or think anything because people who don't know whe bible from cover, people who quote a few scriptues to a fool will always win converts, pro and con. I'm not a preacher, don't attend a church, am 62 but daily I read the bible. I know what the bible says and what God's plan is. Because I decdicated 15 years of learning the fact, the examples, I've gaained the wisdom I have. The average Christian is too lazy, too hung up on a small section of a large book to know what the hell the whole books states. I'm not going to get into womens issure. I havent the time not interest to educate you. I know from years of self study, dedication, desire to know. **** slung to the gullible, the fools are victums of their choices to judge, believe what some other human tell them because they are too stupid to realize the con, the authority is making up a theology based on facts taken from a few scriptures and the gullible, the people who 'd rather watch Jerry Springer are the majority of the bible thumpers, the rip off preachers, the quilt ridden majority. Hitler said one thing wery wise. The masses are asses. the bigger the lie, the less they know the more they believe.
You're about the cruelty to women....God said a man is to love the woman as he loves the church. He said a man who hates wife is not a going to heven. the wife is to be submissive (only) to the man if he is a man who by his actions, not his words, are gods plans. God never said a man should have more tthan one wife. A man is personsibility resopnsible to god to be the spiritual head, the example, the protector of the wife. the wife who chears, who's a gossif, a lazy, non supporting wife to the man who is a man who practices daily his male role of gods rules is worthy and should divorce that woman. The woman is never supposed to stay with a brutal, man. god said he values most, not your giving but the taking care of the poor, the widows and orphans. How many ministries take money and do that.
Before you fall for the Bull-**** and blam god for the little your'vr read I'd suggest you spend reading and learning the book. the cruelity to women, and men and children are God's examples of man cruelity, not his approval. Don't believe me, don't believe a preaches. The who fact's of man are writtnen in one book.
Read probverbs; don't quote one verse and assume that's mean old god hating women. That's his idea of fun. I don't have the time nor interest to go deeper. If you want to discuss what you don't know write me and if you are a serious student I will direct you to the source. otherwise stick your head in the sand and believe like the majority of america. The Bid Game on sunday, what opra has on for today, what kind of car gets the girl, nationaal enguirer. etc. God does not nedd not has he appointed me the office of saving the world. I don't solicit nor care to feed facts to a fool. I'm content, happy and live life daily with the knowledge there's so my I have to learn and work at to slowly become closer to God's wisdom. So before you place god, or all mem, all women in a box remember. Life is a choice. All women are not...all women think....etc. Gods spesks from his words. You get out of his word what you are willing to learn and apply. the chooice to believe a man or woman's opinion or supposed knowledge is your choice. Good bye, hope you learn at least to think. What you do with what i've said is out of my hands. I've done my part, that's what matters to me. good night...................Bye!

Whats the point of corinthians saying different things each time... the bible shouldnt contradict itself. Also, I should hope I can take the word of the bible literally not liberally.. or else why would God send it. To be a guideline or the actual book we follow?I assume the latter.. It does sound oppressive.. funny how Moslems are labeled. I didnt know this was in there.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff like that in the Bible. Sometimes I wonder why it seems so many Christians haven't actually read the Bible. A girl I work with is the daughter of a minister, and she had never noticed the whole 'sell your daughter into slavery' part, or the 'stone your children to death for talking back' part.

Jesus did not share those attitudes. And no where did God issue a commandment to make women substandard. Many of those verses speaks of the culture there. That same culture is still in that part of the world (Africa and Middle East). Even America was not very woman friendly at one time and still not among some groups. It will always be that way in a male dominated society. The beautiful thing about the Bible is that they show that even its heroes are flawed. That is why Jesus came. To show us how we must be.

Society has come along way since man wrote the Bible. So nowadays, we must interpret it more liberally, not always literally. The Bible asks people to be good to themselves and one another, not to judge and to see mankind with no biases. That includes gender. Everything evolves, including man's interpretation of the Bible. Focus on its important messages and you'll do more than most. Good luck!

Look at the whole context of scripture.
Woman is equal to man.
We have different roles, not unequal roles....
From the very first chapter of the Bible, we are taught that women, like men, bear the stamp of God's own image (Genesis 1:27; 5:1-2)-men and women were created equal. Women play prominent roles in many key biblical narratives. Wives are seen as venerated partners and cherished companions to their husbands, not merely slaves or pieces of household furniture (Genesis 2:20-24; Proverbs 19:14; Ecclesiastes 9:9). At Sinai, God commanded children to honor both father and mother (Exodus 20:12).
Of course, the Bible teaches divinely ordained role distinctions between men and women-many of which are perfectly evident from the circumstances of creation alone. For example, women have a unique and vital role in childbearing and the nurture of little ones. Women themselves also have a particular need for support and protection, because physically, they are "weaker vessels" (1 Peter 3:7 NKJV). Scripture establishes the proper order in the family and in the church accordingly, assigning the duties of headship and protection in the home to husbands (Ephesians 5:23) and appointing men in the church to the teaching and leadership roles (1 Timothy 2:11-15).
Yet women are by no means marginalized or relegated to any second-class status. The Bible teaches women are not only equals with men (Galatians 3:28), but are also set apart for special honor (1 Peter 3:7). Husbands are commanded to love their wives sacrificially, as Christ loves the church-even, if necessary, at the cost of their own lives (Ephesians 5:25-31). The Bible acknowledges and celebrates the priceless value of a virtuous woman (Proverbs 12:4; 31:10; 1 Corinthians 11:7).
Christianity, born at the intersection of East and West, elevated the status of women to an unprecedented height. Jesus' disciples included several women (Luke 8:1-3), a practice almost unheard of among the rabbis of His day. Not only that, He encouraged their discipleship by portraying it as something more needful than domestic service (Luke 10:38-42). In fact, Christ's first recorded, explicit disclosure of His own identity as the true Messiah was made to a Samaritan woman (John 4:25-26). He always treated women with the utmost dignity-even women who might otherwise be regarded as outcasts (Matthew 9:20-22; Luke 7:37-50; John 4:7-27). He blessed their children (Luke 18:15-16), raised their dead (Luke 7:12-15), forgave their sin (Luke 7:44-48), and restored their virtue and honor (John 8:4-11). Thus He exalted the position of womanhood itself.

Now don't get mad, but at this point in time women were more property than anything else. Remember that Adam was standing not too far away and he didn't stop Eve. Real cool.......NOT!
Men were more "wealthy" when they had sons to fight and hunt.
Even the Native Americans had this in their society in early history.

look up rape in Leviticus. When woman was raped, she was put to death if it happened in the city, and sold to the rapist if it happened in the country. If she did not report the rape, she was stoned for not being a virgin when she married. Unless she was engaged or married when she was raped, then she was allowed to remain with her husband/fiancee.
Shows God's perspective on rape, doesn't it? If you get raped, your f**ked all the way around
To Iamagoodoboy: don't assume you are the only person who has read the bible. I have been reading the bible my whole life. I may have a different perspective than a lot of people who read it because I am willing to think about what I read rather than just accepting it as truth just as it is, and interpreting it so that it makes sense to me.
Don't just assume that all people who read the bible and question it don't want to believe it. trust me, I want to find something that I can believe because the idea of truth is really appealing.
PS this rape law I described is a whole hell of a lot more than one verse. The description of this law takes up half to a whole chapter and is outlined three times just in the book of Leviticus- or did you miss that in your daily study??

Context, context context.
How can y'all read something without knowing what the situation was at the time it was written?
Nice that y'all are reading the word, but you should look at history too to find out what was going on at the time that each book was written.

At first glance, 1 Cor 14 seems to be a blanket command that women are not allowed to speak at all in the church. However, 1 Corinthians 11:5 mentions women praying and prophesying in the church - and does not condemn it. Therefore, 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 must not be an absolutely command for women to always be silent in church.
The context of 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 is talking about interpreting and understanding the gifts of tongues and prophecy (1 Corinthians 14:26-32). Therefore, 1 Corinthians 14:34 is not commanding women to be absolutely silent in the church all the time. It is only saying that women should not participate when tongues and/or prophecy is being interpreted and tested (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22; 1 John 4:1). This is in agreement with 1 Timothy 2:11-12 which says that women should not teach or have authority over men. If women were involved in deciding whether a prophecy was truly from God, they would be disobeying what the Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:11-12. Therefore, Paul tells women to be silent when tongues and prophecy are being interpreted so that they will not be disobeying God’s Word.
Keep in mind that it is also written in Acts 2, " ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy."
While husbands are surely given authority over their wives (with the intention of using such authority for loving and godly purposes), let us be careful not to stifle the message of the Holy Spirit that wishes to come forth from women in these last days! Also understand that this has nothing to do with superiority or inferiority...for Christ Himself was called to submit to certain authorities here in earth. And yet none is greater than He!! We are encouraged therefore to think of our eternal destiny...not our earthly conditions.
Some more verses on the relationship between men and women...
Ephesians 5
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
1 Peter 3
1 [Wives] be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
1 Corinthians 11
3Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God…
7…[man] is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9neither was man created for woman, but woman for man…11In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
