What exactly is the purpose of getting points for answering/asking questions?

if u get more points u can get to d next level and ask more questions so basically its just a game to keep yahoo answes alive lol... but nah dont care much bout it :)

I think the point is: if there is a limit, people are more likely to carefully select what questions they want to answer (or ask) instead of just putting yes, no, or smart *** answers. Of course, that doesn't seem to work, bcuz people still put bullcrap stuff down. But what can you do...more than half the world is stupid anyways!

I ask questions if I want an opinion on something. I answer questions because I like to help.

It doesn't worry me if I was to get points or not.
