I use John Frieda's Frizz Ease Dream Curls. Just spray it on and scrunch a little and let it dry naturally. It doesn't leave your hair stiff and crunchy. I love the stuff.

Mousse or gel are pretty much all you can use to hold hair. Mouse is less sticky and does not usually get hard. Try a lighter hold of mouse or maybe a light hold of gel. I have both, depending on the look I want to go for. The gel I have is $10 stuff from a salon and the lightest hold, it doesn't make my hair hard. The mousse I have is extra strong hold or something, it also doesn't make my hair hard.

I use Aveda Be Curly hair lotion. It's a little spendy (about $20 a bottle), but a little goes a long way and the results are absolutely worth it. Plus, if your hair is short you won't need to buy it as often. The lotion is non-drying and non-crunchy and works best on freshly washed, damp hair. Good luck!

Redken Rewind is an awesome product. Just make sure you don't use too much, you'll end up looking like a grease ball lol. You could also try any mousse or curl cream.

Try blow/drying and brush straight out. Avoid gels and too much hair moisturizers. Anything that dampens the hair.

Mouse works great, and it doesn't dry out as much as gel does.
