I know a lot of people that have dated right away to get over the other, but I don't feel you can connect with someone under those circumstances. (not in a relationship sense)
There's nothing wrong with dating right away even if your not ready for a relationship. Just be honest from the get go. A lot of people are open to just dating with no strings attached.
Have fun and do what you have to for yourself. Just be honest and don't intentionally hurt anyone along the way.

depends on how long your recent relationship lasted... if it was like 3 months, then i'd start looking right away -- it's easy to get over a fling like that... but 3 years might have a different effect on you, you'll start dating people that have the opposite traits of your recent breakup and not neccessarily the traits you are most attracted to... i would take the opportunity to write down exactly what you're looking for in a person and then focus on going after that... whatever you focus on you'll get

about a month to see if you have got the person you broke up with out of your system.because you don't want to start a new relationship with someone else and you go back to the other person. that will break the new person heart.
