Just curious...

God created the universe( including human) in 6 days and rest on the seventh.

So God does take time to do something. If he is the creator of everything, why does he need 6 days to do it ?

Why can't he start the clock after he create everything ?
Or he makes it everything in the flip of a nano second ?

A nanosecond is still a measure of time.

God is not subject to time limitation. We are. And so we are given ways to understand what God does and who God is that approximate what he does and who he is.

That is, we cannot understand living outside of time, and so it is necessary to provide a measure of time when describing to us the creation of the universe. The creation of it occurred outside of space and time--and, in fact, the universe WAS the creation of space and time. There would be no way for us to comprehend its origins otherwise. We will get to know that one day when we enter eternity; but today we must be bound by our limited comprehension.

It is not God who is limited, but us who seek to know him through limited means.

You are mistaken concerning how many "days" Jehovah used to create the universe. If you will closely examine the Genesis account of creation, you will see that the universe--"the heavens and the earth"--were already in existence BEFORE the first creative day started. See Gen. 1:1, 2. Those 6 "days" had nothing to do with the creation of the earth or the heavens. Instead, those 6 "days" were immense time periods that Jehovah used to prepare the earth to be inhabited by animals and then humans. Unlike many think, those time periods did not consist of 6 24-hour days. As Creator of all things, Jehovah can take his time to do anything he wants to do. Who are we to rush him?

God is not subject to any limitations except those caused by His own nature, such as: He cannot lie.
He could have created the universe in one instant of time or, literally, no time at all, but He chose to make it in a series of days. This was probably so He could tell a story or make a point. He also does not get tired so it was not necessary for Him to rest on the seventh day, this was to make another point.
God is a spirit so He doesn't need dimension to exist in. Dimension, space, time, tangible reality, were all created at the same time so His creation would have something to exist in and with.

God created time for us. He is not limited by it. He could easily have created everything in less than a nano second. He chose the 6 day pattern with the 7th to rest as a standard for mankind.

Someone told me once that God created all of history that happened before Adam and Eve. This would account for dinosaurs as well as pacify those who belive that Earth is only ten thousand years old. Time is irrelavent. Time is man made.Think of God's day as a period or cycle. A day to God could be a hundred thousad years to us.

Think of every moment as the same. No matter how old you are you are in the same moment. Memories you keep give rise to time. But it still is the same moment. God is the begining and the end. In a flash of a moment all things as well as all time can happen. And does.

And it's not a rest, he/she took a pause to see what he/she had created. As it is written, God can get pretty angry!

Be joyful to exist!

And for that matter, if god is all-powerful, why did he need to rest? Creating an entire universe and over a million different species shouldn't have even made him break a sweat.

Oh, and what about the Christians who, finally admitting that the earth is much older than the 6000 years the bible suggests, try and say that one of god's days was like a billion years in our time. You really think it took god, all power, omniscient *god* six billion years to create this?

Very good question. I don't know why it "took" God 6 days to do it all. I also don't know why he needed to rest. I think God created time itself, so it wouldn't make much sense that he'd be limited by his own creation. It could be that:

-God tells this story in a way that we would believably understand it

or

-God enjoyed spending "time" creating things as an enjoyable activity. In Genesis, he frequently sees that his creations are "good," so he does take pleasure in them. Why not spend time doing so?

Not likely. Time is something invented by man to measure the passing of their lives. For other creatures and God, time does not exist. As for creating the earth in six days, how can that be proven, apart from words written by men. Old men. Religious men.
