I fail to see how that would hinder the friendship if they are really friends.

I think that depends on how devoutly christian you are? If you can tolerate some leeway, then it's not really an issue. I for one wouldn't encourage really good friends to split for religious reasons, but bone cells don't hang out with liver cells. Maybe that's not the best analogy, but if you are truly faithful to your religion, staying friends might not be for the best. If you respectfully admit to being uncomfortable and really need to honor your own beliefs, I would hope that your friend is tolerant enough to respect you beliefs.
I don't agree that anyone should try to sway someone one way or another. Freedom of religion means freedom to choose, period. Your friend has her right to choose and you have yours. Any attempt at swaying by one over the other is not respect. So again it comes down to what your beliefs are and how strongly you feel about following your religion.

If your friend disclosed something to you as a way to open the door to share meaningful dialog, then that's great; be a friend.
If your friend is trying to say, back off; then respect that and wait.
If your friend is saying Good by, then maybe it's that time.
If your friend is challenging your faith; then be very careful to avoid the trap of pride. Seek wise counsel and speak the truth as you are lead by the Holy Spirit; to lead others by good conduct.
But if your friend sounds like they are hurting and they really need a friend, then be there for them in a way that would please God.
However, Christ truly loved sinners, but never loved their sins.

No. If it makes a difference, the christian was never his friend in the first place. Do him a great favor and leave him to those who see his value is as a person, not as someone who agrees with their mythology.

It's tough to say because while the bible says we should try to refrain from keeping closely to those who are not saved, it also says we should use it as opportunity to teach them of the glory of God. I think that it is ok as long as the friend doesn't hurt your relationship with the Lord.

If you even have to ask that question, you're not much of a friend. Or much of a Christian.
