teasing is otherwise known as backcombing. With one hand, you hold a small section of hair right out from your head. with the other hand, you use a comb to comb this hair back toward your head. Basically, this causes your hair to scrunch up in knots and tangles near your head, and then you lightly comb on top of it to hide the tangles (unless you want the knots and tangles to show). This gives your hair lift and volume. This was done big time in the late 50s and 60s to get those high volume bouffant hair dos. Those older ladies who go to the hair dresser once or twice a week and have those stiff "helmet hair" dos ---their hair is teased into submission all over their head then lacquered with heavy hairspray. That way they barely ever have to comb their hair. Even after sleeping on it, the hair looks the same.

special combs are made just for teasing. they have alternating short and tall teeth, and the comb has a thin, sharpish handle that you can use to separate out the segments of hair before you tease.

Needless to say, teasing is not good for your hair. Hair does not like to be back combed. it causes hair to break and develop split ends.

wow I actually just took my written boards for cosmetology today and I love to tease and I love big hair (yes the 80's are back) I think by the million of answers you already have you know where the crown is (but just in case it is the 8 finger distance from the front of your hairline backwards) hold the hair straight up from your head and with a fine tooth comb put the teeth of the comb in the middle of the strand of hair and push the comb down, repeatily until the hair is smashed together and for extra support spray it with hair spray hold it there for a couple of minutes to dry and then lay hair down and there should be a bump at the back of your head smooth it out a little and welcome yourself to the new 80's

its bad for your hair but the crown is the top of your head. You take a chunk of your hair and take a comb and hold it straight up and then comb it fast away from your head so it gets puffy. It will make your ends split and your hair will get knots in it. Very attractive!

the middle of your head...you know the circle at the top of your head...that's the crown. tease the hair is to take the comb and fluff it..start at the roots.

It means to raise the hair around the top of your head up, and take a comb and comb backwards, from the top, down to your scalp. Don't do it right on top, this gives the hair volume, but you don't want to take it too far, or you'll end up a big puff ball. Start small. p.s. Hairspray helps.

its at the top of your head, for intance if you had a pony tail you would brush the top of your head the opposite way which is towards your head, its called teasing,it looks nice if you know how to style it.
