I used to have one "wart" on the bottom of my foot and one on my little toe. Neither hurt or had the chracteristic black specks, but they seem to be contagious (I now have 2 on my hand and the ones on my foot have healed). I know I should see a dermatologist but I don't have health care and am going through financial trouble.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention that I tried the freezing stuff (compound w) but it didn't work on the foot ones. I assumed it wouldn't work on the hand ones but I haven't tried.

try some over the counter wart remover and if you cant afford that try clear nail polish. My sister had the same problem when she was 16 and it spread to her whole knee. A wart is a virus and it will spread

If the ones on your foot are warts they are called "planters warts". The black specks in a wart are seeds and are very contagious if extracted improperly. On TV they have ads of a new product released that was only available to physicians for years. Its in a can with a wand (forgot the name), it freezes the wart like a doctor would. Ask your pharmasist where he has stocked it in the store. Old wives tales tell a lot of stories about warts, but if the seeds are extracted wrong and you get them on another place on your body or if someone else gets them on them they are contagious.

Sometimes a wart may be confused with a stone bruise. I would try some of that freeze away stuff from the store and see if that helps. I have had a wart on my finger a few times and it didn't hurt or have the black specks in it either.

Hi, when I was 12 I had about a dozen little warts around my fingers. One of my fingers' cuticle was covered with them. I went to the doctor and had them "frozen" with liquid nitrogen, they went away, but, damn did that hurt. They will definately keep spreading, so keep a handle on the ones on your hand, they should respond well to the liquid nitrogen (freeze off brand?) Good luck (And wash your hands frequently to try to minimize spreading (or cover with band aids)

sounds like warts to me. No need to see a doctor unless you want doctor to remove them. No need to worry unless they change color, get feverish and red, or have pus. The pharmacies now have over-the-counter effective meds but they are kind of expensive. This is something that would not bother me, but if it bothers you save up for the med.

once you get some money, instead a dermatologist, pay less, and see a doc. s/he would be able to freeze it off with something they have called liquid nitrogen. its worth it trust me.
