Genesis 1:

[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

What does "us" and "our" mean? Who is He talking about besides Himself in these plural forms? Or what else is going on?

God the Father and God in human form (The pre-incarnate Christ)

We believe Jesus Christ to be both God (that's the Christ part) and a man (that's the Jesus part) - also why he considered himself to be sub-serviant to The Father.

The pre-incarnate Christ can be seen in Genesis 3 where it says "The Lord" was walking in the Garden and in Genesis 18 where Abraham had 3 visitors and 1 of them was "The Lord".

He is talking about the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

I think he is talking about the triune God- Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Because God is three in one, he uses the plural to show the triune in the beginning. This is just my interperation of it.

God (Elohim) is in the plural form.
What you have here in Genesis 1 is the basis of the Trinity Doctrine.

Jen is right. God was speaking to the angels and Jesus. but what god meant by our image is our inner self our spirit not our physical body. also where GOD talks about the WORD that is Jesus. any place in the OT that speaks about the word is talking about him. and where it talks about the holy spirit that is GODs love... its the most powerful thing there is on this earth or in heaven.

He ment him and his son, NOT the Trinity, which ISNT true in the first place.

God is just himself, his son is one person, and the holy spirit is one thing, they are all seprate. Learn to read the whole bible and not just the parts you take out of context that looks to agree with you.

It is God the Father speaking to God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. Very difficult to understand, but that is what is happening.

ELOHIM....The plural of God in Hebrew.

The Trinity...Many times in the Abrahamic Covenant (Old Testament) the word "Elohim" is used to denote God.
