is it true that the engagement ring goes in the finger before the wedding ring because that was first given to you?? or vice versa?

Wedding band is the first one on your finger and then your engagement ring. The wedding band, which symbolizes the vows you took, is supposed to be closer to your heart. The engagement ring, although very nice, is just another piece of jewelry that you wear.

After the wedding the wedding band goes closest to the hand, then the engagement ring second. The wedding band is closer to your heart than just the engagement ring..

No, the wedding ring goes on first, with the engagement ring on top - to protect the wedding band.

I was told always wear your wedding ring the closest to your heart, and the engagement ring on top of that.
Plus, it looks great if you have a nice rock on your engagement ring...sticks out more lol

You know what you do what you want to. If you want to wear it through your nose go do that.
The idea is to put the ring that symbolizes the most closest to your heart.
I have an Irish wedding band and that has four rules I get confused with all the time but only one ring to deal with which I wear around my neck except for special times so I do not accidentally yank off the finger at work I almost yanked off once wearing my wedding band and engagement ring to work where they both got caught on something.
What is more important is how near and dear the marriage is to your heart.
Once upon a time I had 3 very young sisters who use to come in and tell me how to fold the towels just to show who was boss. So for awhile I would ignore the intelligent way which fit on the shelf and refold all the towels as they said to when they came in. One day they all kept passing through the house not offering to help me do the laundry or fold the towels so as they walked by rather than play their games of refolding as they told me I would fold one towel that way. So when I was done they all promptly went into the bathroom to see who was the one who was in control to see a mess of towels. Then when they complained to me I said if you are not happy refold them yourselves and also wash them too or let me fold them how they fit on the shelf so they stop falling off.

After that I got to fold them how they fit on the shelf for you see they were clueless as they never folded them nor put them away at that time.
You wear the rings. If you follow what everyone else says then everyone will tell you their rules and they tend to all be different. Where it how you want to on your toes, on your pinky finger, in your nose or around your neck. Smile be sweet and say my sweety likes it here and I like to please him because then he likes to please me back.
