I am looking for a gift for my little brother, who is turning 13. I don't want to get him any kind of toy (that includes video games) because he is spoiled rotten by my parents and has way to many toys as it is (2 rooms FULL, 1 room used to be the garage, converted to his playroom). I want a gift that is mature and useful for his age. Any ideas?

Also, another reason I want to get him something more mature for his birthday is because he is very babyish, still cries and throws a fit like a 4 year old. I know this all makes everyone want to say don't get him anything, but I do want to get him a little something.

His interests are: eating McDonalds whenever he tells his mom he wants some, playing video games all day, and Inuyasha (NOT getting him ANYTHING Inuyasha)

SIMONE, thank you that's a great idea! Does anyone have any ideas of some places where I can get him a gift card to that doesn't have anything Inuyasha? If I get him a card to something like that, he will definitely get Inuyasha, and he has ENTIRELY too much Inuyasha as it is. (Wall plastered with pics, every season on DVD, sword, beads, etc etc etc.) Bookstores won't work, they have Inuyasha DVDs.

I suggest getting him a gift card, not too much, but maybe something around $10, to a Dept. store of some sort. That way, he can pick out what he wants, won't have enough for anything too over the top, yet will learn (hopefully) the value of a dollar. This might help him to appreciate all that he does have, and may in turn help him to mature.
McDonald's gift certificates will also help him realize the value of a dollar. Or, perhaps a subscription to an age appropriate magazine is also a good gift, something he will continue to get all year long.
How about a gift card to a music store?

Well, my grandpa bought my son a really great book. Its call the big book of answers. It has simple answers any question a kid could imagine, like, what are boogers made of, and why we have fingerprints....lots of neat stuff like that! My son is a spoiled brat as well, and he doesnt do well, in school, so he gets school supplies for birthdays and stuff. Another idea, maybe a gift card for a movie of his choice, or a giftcard pass to play laser tag or something to get him active. Just some ideas! Good luck

Perhaps you can give him a journal or diary. Tell him he doesn't have to write in it everyday because that'll make him want to chuck it right back at you. The journal can be a medium for writing opinions, sorting through the frustrations of a 13 year old, or just a nice way to doodle. Either way, a journal can be a way for him to reflect upon himself, which is good, considering how your brother is so childish. Plus, journals are cheap. lol. :]

Kids at his age are very hard to buy for. My only suggestion is a gift card to one of his favorite places: McDonald's or a video game store. Let him pick out what he wants.

give me a like football if he likes sports that way he will get out of home to play and not play video games. Also sports are good way of getting with the friends and helping him mature. Hope this helps.

depends on his interest. When I was 11 I had cameras in my bedroom, on mother's piano. I liked them. When I was 12, I started to have an interest in photography. And both my grandmas gave me a little camera. When I was 13, one of my parents gave me an instant camera. What are some of your brother's interests? see if you can find something related to hisof interests. if you find somehting, you have your answer.

Do you have something of yours that you think he would like? Like a telescope or a microscope? Maybe something he has admired? If that doesn't work ...how about a small fireproof safe...to keep his valuables (what ever that may be) Kids need a safe place to keep their stuff.
