It's a philosophy that appeals to many people. Not all of us are Christian, you know. (Not that there's anything bad about being a Christian.)

Just like there are infinite ways to get from point A to point B, so are there many paths to spiritual fulfillment and enlightenment. I was raised Christian, so I obviously know that most Christians think that it's the ONLY way, but some of us just don't feel that way.

Because people want to believe that everything they need is within themselves. That if only they reflect deeply enough within, they shall become lights unto the world.

It is self-worship, all told, despite all of the admonishments and protestations to the contrary.
