Try the New American Standard Bible (NASB). It is very close to the original Hebrew and Greek, with a college aged reading level.
The New International Version (NIV) is junior to senior high school reading level, as well as the New King James Version (NKJV)
Be very careful with reading the New Living Translation or The Message, as it is more like a paraphrase based on man's understanding of the already translated Bible, where as the other actual translations are taken from the original languages.
Between the NASB, NIV and NKJV, there are minor phrasing differences, but the meaning is equal.
Hope this helps!

Edited is the wrong word. Translated is the word simply because our english changes about every 75 years. However to answer the intent of your question, the answer would be the New Jerusalem Bible. The one we have does not have any notes or references to other scriptures in the same bible. So I recommend you get one with so as to get a more authoratative picture of what you are reading. Thank you for asking this question.

God has just as much ability to guide the minds and hands of the editors as He did with those of the actual writers of the Bible. God will not allow His Word to be "lost in translation or edition." He is the real writer. Men are only tools.

The NIV (The New International Version) is one of the closes to the original translations.
The King James Version was rewritten so that King James could understand it. That book does have some serious errors.

I understand a number of the hot testomony stuff could have been additionally. i comprehend Y'Shua's (in accordance to different writings from the time, that for the time of all risk became Jesus’ genuine call) words have been written later by others. He did no longer write something. I study these days that became real with reference to the Quran. The words are Muhammad's yet he did no longer write them down. somebody else did later. As I pronounced a lot of people flow by quite some hassle attempting to coach each be conscious is real and from God. it is sparkling to me lots is legends and fabricated to effect the Hebrews and, later, the Jewish cult that over some centuries greater into Christianity. a pair examples are the thoughts of Samson and interest. i've got self belief they're in simple terms training approximately marriage regulations and loyalty to God. in the Quran, there are issues i discover very clever, like the warning approximately vengeance; yet there are some issues that i think could serve generally Muhammad. One is his clarification to his different halves and yet another is combating to the dying for Islam. I learn religions, and different philosophies, and the two books are sturdy representations of cultures' perspectives of themselves, their international, God and the family between those. Too a lot of people attempt to place greater into them than is in there. it quite is the place the hassle starts. in case you want to renowned approximately God, close the books and go searching you. he's everywhere outdoors the books. extremely little of him is in there.

the catholic bibble is the oldest. it was settled in the fourth century and, except for different translations, has not changede much. the protestant versions have been changed a number of times since it was first put forth in the fifteenth century. the resultant versions , excluding the more modern language of the later translations, has been fairly consistant since the king james version was printed in english in the seventeenth century.
