My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years. He is 6 years older than me. He and I are very happy and we have been living together for 2 years. Recently we decided to try for a baby. He has been saying that he wants to marry me for about 2 years now and he even looks at rings with me. I want to get married. There is no reason why we shouldnt at this point. Every time I bring it up he gets mad and says that he will ask me eventually but it will only be when I stop asking him about it. Ill go months and months without asking him and nothing then when I get fed up and ask him about it again he gets all mad again. I dont get it! Why wont he do this? We act like we are married already and he wont ask me!! Why is this??? I am not trying to pressure him at all but I am getting a little tired with the whole thing.

He wants to be in control of that area, when you ask he can't suprise you with the question. He could be scared, but it sounds like a control situation. Don't ask him again, better yet don't expect it so it will be great when he does.

Did you read the recent statistics that show 53% of couples are not married and live together? Marriage means many things for many different people. Both of you are seeing "marriage" differently right now.....Enjoy your life and don't worry about what people say if ur not married. Look at how many people divorce after they do get married. A marriage certificate is just a piece of paper. Love is what is most important! Take care! :>)

He's getting all the benefits of marriage without the obligations. Trust me, he isn't going to end that favorable situation anytime soon.

maybe he is scared of marriage. or just doesn't know how to do it. you know how men can be. the thing that you can do is just wait, if you stop asking him he will be confortable and do it on his own. all you need to be is patient.
