I believe you're refering to absinthe and you can buy it in NJ, but I don't think it's the same as that found in Europe.

If you want the Eurotrip experience, pour some everclear in a shotglass, add a couple drops of green food coloring, find your sister/cousin/whatever, slam it back and take Hector up on his offer. Maybe you can have a three way.

Its called absynthe (not quite sure of the spelling). It is a spirit, made from wormwood. It is very bitter, and traditionally served with sugar. Supposedly it causes halucinations, Ive talked to people who said that wasnt the case. It is illegal in the US however there are a few websites where it is available, but as always be careful what you buy online.

Ingredients: 1.0 dash Bitters
2.0 tsp Eggs
1.0 juice of Lemon
1.0 oz Water
1.0 oz Absinthe
Directions: Shake thoroughly with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
It is likely legal in the US to produce absinthe for one's personal use using commercially available distilled liquor and infusing one's own herbs into the alcohol, although any thujone-containing drinks are illegal to sell or distribute.

it's absinthe but be super careful about buying it! My husband and I thought we'd try it in Mexico and the stuff we got was fake! They charged an arm and a leg for it and the bootle even said "contains Wormwood" but it tasted like black licorice and made my husband throw up all night!

Nope. Absinthe is made from wormwood, which is highly poisonous, and therefore highly illegal in the United States. The only way to get it here, is to smuggle it in from Europe, and that's very hard to do.

It's called Absinthe and it's legality is odd. It isn't a controlled substance, so it by itself isn't illegal, but you can't import it or make it legally, so buying it you could have it confiscated or if you are making it you could be arrested for illegal distilling.

Just get it shipped over from Europe. Worth the extra cash . Beware though it tastes strongly of aniseed!
