Find a good pet sitter. Maybe a freind will take it for the time you are away. If not you will need to find a pet sitting service in your area.,

You have three options:

1) Take the bird to a trustworthy person for them to take care of while you are away.

2) Have a trustworthy person come in every day to your residence to feed and water the bird.

3) Board the bird at a vet clinic or pet store that offers this service.

It is your responsibility to make sure your pet is cared for while you are away. Leave explicit written instructions on how much and what to feed as well as emergency contact info for you and the number of your bird's vet (your budgie does have a vet and gets annual checkups, right?).

I would NEVER leave my birds for more than 24-36 hours, tops. Too much can happen - the water dish will get filthy, the water bottle might stop working, or the bird could get caught on a toy and injured with no one to help. When birds get sick they get very ill, very fast. With their high metabolisms they can die within hours! If you misjudged the food and your budge ran out of food it becomes a medical emergency if he goes just 12 hours without food! You would not leave a dog alone for several days and you should not leave a bird alone, either.

Well gee.
I don't see the bird getting out and strolling to the fridge to get a sandwich.
You have several options:
1. Board it with your Vet.
2. Get a Trustworthy person to cruise by twice a day: once to uncover and feed and change water. The second time to feed and change water and cover it.
3. Move your bird, cage food and all to a friend or relatives house. Make sure they know NOT to let the bird out if it's not clipped.

You have to look at animals as though they were children. They are certainly not children, but they have the same needs: food, water, attention, love, training.

You need to let someone responcible take care of it.To feed & water every day & clean the cage every other day at least.Maybe a family member or a friends mother or a girl friend. It would be best if the bird can stay at your home but if not,,then be sure that the bird isnt drafty or that no one uses chemical sprays & such around the bird. And be sure that they dont have a cat.

Either take it to a shelter that houses birds , or ask a friend or relative to take care of it while you are gone. The cage and water has to be changed everyday, otherwise bird can get sick.

if you are only away for 2 or 3 days then just leave extra dishes of food in the cage, if you are gone longer then ask a friend to care for it

Well
You need a sitter .. Try a local School.. biology teacher or other HS class ... they may care for it while you are gone.. Id avoid elementary only because of the higher incidence of germs!

You simply can not leave him alone and expect him to be ok...

You need a sitter....

Good Luck

Right before you leave, clean his cage completely, along with new sand paper for the bottom of the cage. Leave 2-3 dishes of food and water. Have one of your close friends or a family member stop by and check on the big, giving it new water and food. Also, give him a mirror in his cage along with toys to keep him company (hopefully he doesn't freak out about seeing an image of himself).
