In order to answer your question in the affirmative, one must believe that race is something tangible and not a social construct. After accepting that race does indeed exist, you must believe that race influences ones intelligence. Then you must believe that intelligence is inheritable. Then one would have to agree on what exactly an Asian is. Are Southeast Asians the same as Northeast Asians, and where do South Asians fit into all of this. Are Pakistanis and East Indians the same as Koreans and Japanese?

Are Asians moving up the economic ladder more quickly than other groups? I do not know, and you have not presented any evidence that they are. And if they were moving up the economic ladder more quickly than other groups, is this necessarily a reflection of their intellectual superiority?

I lived and studied in Japan for several years. In my experience, the stereotype of the nerdy bookworm Asian is not true. While I met some brilliant Japanese, I also met quite a few slackers. At the High School I attended, there were just as many goof offs as you find in an American high school. Although my examples are anecdotal, I do think they illustrate that our perceptions may not be reality.

Invention is an interesting process, and, while Americans have a romanticized idea of inventors as brilliant individuals working in a vaccum, most inventions come out of broader developments. The lightbulb - the incandescent light - for instance, was theorized long before Edison turned his workshop to actually creating one. Plenty of other folks tried to make a workable incandescent bulb, Edison, by dint of sheer effort, managed to find an adequate material for the filament, first. Most modern 'inventions' are or are based on technologies that were first concieved of back in the 1920s (or 50s, in the case of transistors). At the time, America was a leader in science and technology, the developed world wasn't much more than Europe and America, and it was still dominated by anglos. Today, not so much (on either point). Asian countries are highly developed and making plenty of discoveries & 'inventions.' I think the point you might be looking for, though is the difference between 'intelligence' or creative genius, and simply doing well in school. To do well in school you need to be intelligent, have a good memory, aply yourself - and you need to be comfortable conforming to the standard against which you're being measured. Many Asian cultures place a high value on education, respect teachers, and have are comfortable with that sort of conformity. American culture, ironically, doesn't - it values accompishment above education, says "those who can do, those who can't teach," and celebrates the rebel, not the nerd.

I wouldn't say they're all smarter than most white people. I know that overseas in their country they have strict education rules - they don't tolerate any kind of bull from their students. I think most of them might be more successful because they take education seriously, and know how to have fun when they're not working or at school.

Many people think whites are lazy - some are and others like to learn and work. It all depends on the way they were brought up I guess. I think America should enforce more strict laws when it comes to education.

Asians are more smarter than whites. Look at the list of successful executives and billionaires, many are Asians.

Asians are not smarter than whites, or blacks. The rest is questionable.

I agree with the " as long as they're legal" thing. And I also think it's two fold. They are smarter for 1. thier culture which is very much geared to personal education... probably too much so from the documentaries I've seen. And there must be some genetics involved because I think they are typically smarter.

Diligence and reverence for acquiring knowledge may still be more socially bred into them by their family's values more than others. Heck, that alone as a setting would make you "smarter".

If you want to be "smarter" as well, work at gaining skill like reading and math instead of filling up on building self-esteem falsely as our public school system is set up to do.

no asians are not smarter...im an asian myself....i think there are more smarter asians than whites because of parenting.
From preschool all the way to college, most azn parents nag about why the kids aren't studying 5 hours a day and why they can't get 100% even though they got a 90.
So due to forced studying, most asians gain a lot of textbook knowledge, but i think white ppl (generally) are more....street smart? better understanding of the world.

I think you are whatever you want to be. Asian parents care more about their children's education? There are just as many white people that care about their children's education also.

Your parents are your guides and leaders in life. If they let you down you have a more difficult time. If the parents are good, no matter what color, culture, religion, whatever they are, chances are the children are bright and go far.

Intelligence has nothing to do with race. Their culture requires them to do well in school. It is expected and they do. A few generations in the US or another country that don't value education they will be the same as everyone else.
