I think i would talk to him just like you did us here. Tell him you have been hurt so many times and your afraid so you may need some extra time to adjust. If he really cares for you he can be the only one to really help you and re assure you at the times when you need it most.

I have a girlfriend that just lost a decent man because of the same problem. He needs to be patient, but you need to let go of the past, because that is just what it is the past! Do not bring that baggage into your current relationship. Anytime you deal with someone your taking a risk, and you are vulnerable, but you have to be willing to give it a fair chance. Open up girl, and show your man some attention!

One way, if he doesn't feel the affection as he should, this could lead to him finding someone who can. Start by telling him how you feel about him. Telling him you are hiding behind your own insecurities would be an honest step in your direction. Who knows he maybe able to help you in that area as well. Have confidence in yourself. You are a prize not only to your parents but him as well. Open up the fears to release them all. That's the best move you could do.

I have a friend with the same problem. I told her to start small, by cuddling up to him when your alone. Don't necessarily kiss or hug him all the time. Just explain to him it will take you a while because of past occasions. If he doesn't understand then you are definetly not in the right relationship. Someone who really cares for you will wait and be patient. You do have to let him know, it's only fair to him (and you).

Have you ever discussed your past relationships with him? If not, perhaps you should, as it would help him understand you more.
If you have not sought individual counseling, I would recommend that you do so at this point. It can help you better understand your fears and inhibitions.
Also, couple's counseling, could be a good idea, as it could help you and your man move into a more positive stage in life together.
