Yes breast reduction works BUT if you are not careful (after the procedure) you could end up with excess fatty tissue. So once they are reduced, keep them firm.
Tell your doctor about your back problems and he/she will give you a check to confirm then he can recommend the breast reduction. Most HMOs won't approve the procedure without a doctor's recommendation.
Good luck to you, girl.

Breast reduction works, research the issues, find a reputable doctor and get it done properly.
The moronic male fantasy of large breasts and what you could do with them pales when you face real pain and health issues.
Until you get your surgery, consider this: Most women wear the wrong sized or poorly fitted bra, leading to bad support, discomfort and chafing. A trip to a quality lingerie shop or department store to be properly fitted may immediately ease some of your pain. It is usually free, plus the price of a proper support garment... a worthwhile investment indeed! I know!
Look into exercises that will specifically strengthen your back and core muscles. Good posture, particularly while sitting also helps to alleviate the pain...make it a habit.
As previously noted, some insurance will cover breast reductions for medical reasons. Start going to doctors for documentation of that issue. Chiropractors and specialists are recommended over general practitioners. Start researching local surgeons and not only get referrals, but follow up on them. The women who have had the surgery are a better indicator of "quality workmanship" than any degree or office address. Also check which hospital your doctor's are associated with.
You have a valuable research tool in the Internet and not just for opinions. If you are not able to find quality care locally, do consider other locales.

A breast reduction is completely unnecessary. D cup is only slightly larger than average.
I have DDD, and I have a spinal problem, but I don't get back ache. Why?
I wear a properly fitted bra, I'm not overweight, I get regular exercise every day including weight-training, and I do back-strengthening exercises every night.
Do these 4 things for a year, and then see if you still want a reduction (which will leave HIDEOUS scars on you and involves getting your nipples cut off).

Breast reduction works but you should not have it done until you are finished with having children.
Have you tried bras that are more like sports bras? They have no wires, wide straps and keep them from bouncing around too much.
I used to be a skinny little thing but over the years I've gained a few pounds. At Walgreens, at least here in Phoenix, I found these inexpensive sports-type bras. They are tolerable.

Breast reductions absolutely do work. Plus, if you are having health issues (such as back problems and such) your insurance company should cover the cost.
Of course a dude would want you to keep the D's...like the guy above. You weren't put here for their enjoyment, take care of your health!
