as a Roman-Catholic I've noticed rampant attacks on the Christian faith. No atheist dares attack Judaism or Islam. I understand that most are only attacking the majority of this country, Christians, but I don't understand why. Most Christians are pretty quiet. You do get sects that go out and try to preach and shove their points down your throat but don't atheists do the same? Now, while it's easy to make comments about pedophiles passing off as priest and how the Church covered it up (look up Canon Law, though it is dated), how some Christians don't view evolution as fact (it is a theory), and to make rude comments which I'm sure plenty of you will do, I hope that some atheists or even others of different faiths will simply answer my simple question; Why all the Christian bashing?

First off, I'm a Christian of Catholic faith. About the Jehovah witnesses knocking on doors, true it can be annoying, however, it doesn't cost tax payers money. Atheist Michael Newdow is going to courts to remove "In God We Trust" from dollar bills. Truly, a waste of time. C'mon now, atheists, that IS a waste of money. Regarding the remark about handling the heat, I'd love to be a Templar Knight when dealing with some people. Just Kidding.

one more thing, being a Roman-Catholic, I don't dig on those southern evangelists types. They're absolutely revolting. Especially, "Christians" like the Phelps familly. Disgusting and they give Christians a bad name.

shouldn't have said one more thing...Anyway, I personally don't care for people who threaten non-believers with Hell. It's stupid and childish. Damn protestants (whoops, some christian bashing), sorry. Atheists please understand that Christians have done far, far more good than they have done bad. Pope John Paul II even apologized for all the wrongs the Church has done. Very humbling thing to do for a VERY powerful man. Peace.

fyi: the Church isn't 2000 yrs old. Christians got their fair share of bashing too. Not to justify anything.

Well, I don't know much about Islam, nor do I know how they behave in a majority. I only bash what I know well about. I refuse to bash if i'm unsure what I am talking about. This country mostly consist of Christians so most Atheist are surrounded by them and possibly used to be in that religion. That is why. Also, everyone already hates Muslims and Jews over here enough; no need to bash.

First of all, I do not believe men and women will have to be bashing. By that I imply title calling and crude. However, if what you imply is difficult Christians of their religion, then I believe many Christians ask for it. When you profess a notion in some thing but cannot provide a rational purpose with a few type of empirical evidence and but wish others to be given and consider it, you will have opened the door to being challenged. And Christians are probably the most first men and women I've noticeable to begin calling different men and women ignorant in view that they ask for a few sort of evidence as opposed to "in view that it is within the bible." There isn't any empirical evidence that the creator's contained within the Bible had been whatever however traditional men and women looking to make feel of matters the quality method they knew how 2000 years in the past. Why I could presume that pupils of that generation are extra enlightened or expert that trendy is past me. If you wish to quietly train your faith and it lets you be a larger individual, then bless you and hold the religion. If that religion way looking to legislate every person else's ideals or conduct, then I will combat you each and every step of the best way.

christian 'bashing'
muslim 'bashing'
or any other type of bashing is just not good
poking fun at catholics b/c some of their priests are pedophiles is not cool either
i dont really see any more bashing by either atheists or christians, i think its about the same
many non-religious see the religious as foolish, just as the religious see the non-religious as foolish.
i may guilty of doing this a few times, which i did not intend, and apologize for. What i do not apologize for is speaking a legitimate opinion relevant to the question, whether it is taken as offensive or not.
the main reason for it not involving other faiths, i think, is because Christianity and various forms of non-religiousness are the two main opponents in the united states, and so their is more tension, and the two opponents are more familiar with each other
these are my thoughts.

first I am born again Pentecostal and FYI Catholics ARE Christian and on this site there seems to be a lot of hatred toward a religion that offers loving forgiveness.sounds rude to me to return evil for good.I have spent a lot of this weekend reading and posting answers here and the worst attitudes by atheist just seems to prove they either are truly evil themselves or are serving sat an out of ignorance.most Christians seem to be answering gently and with love but the non believers seem angry why is that?

Jehovah's Witnesses actually work hard to help people understand that "hell" is not a fiery place of torment. The bible teaches that "hell" is actually the common grave of mankind.
There is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

It's not bashing. It is all these questions on here presuming atheists have no morals, atheists can't keep their legs shut, atheists should demand to work on Christmas, or atheists are stupid for not believing in God. We have the right to respond to those assaults on our character.
And if I've missed the bashing threads on here, maybe people bash Christians because Christians evangelize and Jews and Muslims don't? I've had dozens of Christians come up to me or knock on my door telling me I need to be saved. I've even had a Baptist stick his foot in my door when I was a young, single woman alone in my home - I thought he was going to force his way in. Worst though, is I was beaten and stomped until I had open fractures of hand and fingers by a group of "Good Christians" who found out my parents were atheists. Afterwards, when I was in the hospital, Christians kept coming into my room and evangelizing.
I have never once been evangelized at by a Jew or a Muslim, they trust in their God to lead people to their faith rather than in going out and chasing after people, insulting them, kicking in their doors or breaking their poor hands to try to make them believe.
I've sought to believe and read your books. I've talked to Jewish and American Islamic ladies and we've held reasonable conversations. They don't pressure or call you names if you aren't their religion.
And you are wrong, atheists don't go door to door passing out pamphlets or hang out on college campuses yelling about atheism. Have you ever seen one going door to door? There is no belief system to atheism, it's just not believing in God. We don't congregate anywhere or print pamphlets or sing hymns to the non-God. There really isn't even an "us" - atheists are not like Roman-Catholics, there is no affiliation or society.
Maybe most Christians leave people alone but that percentage that don't are very vocal and very rude.

Maybe it's retribution for two thousand years of mistreatment from the churches towards the non believers, and maybe it's happening now because there is no longer a fear of the churches.

I see a lot of bashing of Islam here too.
I think the bashing is an immature way of lashing out in anger against Christians, for making the unbeliever feel lost. It angers them to be made to feel inferior (not saying all Christians do this) and so they lash out this way in anger.

Not sure, but the religion is followed by many in the society and reaches much more people. Therefore, it would have more people being concern about it.
