We don't think it is necessary to remove all signs of Christianity from America. Just from the American government.

Why? Because this is a secular country. How can a person have freedom of religion (*true* freedom) if our laws are being made by Christians who allow their beliefs to influence their decisions for an entire nation.

Because we want women to be able to control their bodies. Because we want gays and lesbians to have the same rights of marriage as heterosexual couples do. Because we want to be able to advance our country through scientific research and perhaps one day cure people by doing research on stem cells. Because we don't want people to die of AIDS because of an illogical belief that pre-marital sex is evil.

Those are just a few of the things that would define our country if out government was put into effect for the benefit of only Christians, based only on Christian beliefs and nothing else. There are people of all cultures and beliefs who call themselves Americans, and we need to respect them all. And yes, that includes Christians, as long as they can respect others.

Dear, You need a history lesson. The United States of America was not founded by Christians. It was founded by a whole polyglot of deists, theists, and some down right atheists. Very few Christians were among or original founding fathers.

Buy property and post whatever you want there. However, tax-funded property is not yours to command. There is no reason to assume that the dominant religion gets the rights to dictate the religious displays the rest of us are forced to support. When Islam becomes the dominant religion, would you want to be forced to support financially the display of Muslim imagery and Koranic statements on public lands?

Hey Maypoedancer

Yeah that's a great idea let's take all the Christian laws off the books. We'll start with Thou shalt not steal and then thou shalt not murder... shall we continue this stupidity? I say no! Let's keep the Christian laws, because we need them.

That is right, religious FREEDOM. That means that you should not be allowed to force your religion on me using the law. Like, gay marriage for example.

The real question would be "Why do most athiests think it is nessessary to remove all signs of Christianity from America, but do not care if all other religions like Buddhims and Hundu surround them?

It is said that we as Christians have no right to push anything on anyone else, but by removing signs and symbols aren't you forcing non-belief on us??
