Its a Chinese medicine term to convey the balance between the liver and the spleen..A disturbance in her shen, would mean the interaction between liver and spleen is not functioning correctly..

shen is tooth, shin is front of leg between knee and ankle

kind of like her knees.....i guess haven't you ever heard people say "i got kicked in the shens" pretty sure it would be the same for dogs.....but i don't know for sure..
